A WORKINGTON pub owner has paid thanks to 'outstanding' emergency service workers and door staff for all they did in trying to save a much loved doorman, following his tragic passing outside the Junction in Workington over the weekend.
Andrew McKain, 28, of Whitehaven, who was head doorman at The Junction pub in Workington, passed away while at work over the weekend.
Lloyd Burnie, Owner at The Junction in Workington has thanked the emergency teams who fought tirelessly to try and save Andrew as he paid tribute to his 'main man'.
The pub owner was on holiday at the time of the incident, but flew home on Monday to be with his staff as well as Chloe and the rest of Andrew's family.
In a statement, Mr Burnie said: "This is hard for myself, family and whole junction family past and present.
"On Saturday night at the pub our main man Andrew Mckain suffered what we believe to be a heart problem. Despite the outstanding efforts of door staff, police and paramedic’s they where unable to save the big guy, by now lot of his fellow door staff from Whitehaven other venue's in Workington were outside the ambulance, we would all like to thank all emergency services for all what they did to try save our friend.
"I was away on holiday when all this unfolded and have now flown home to be around for the staff, Chloe and Andrew’s family. I’ve been to see his partner Chloe, his step sons and the bump. As maybe some of you may or may not know they are expecting a baby early September. She still can’t believe what she went through that night."
Mr Burnie said Andrew was 'so excited' to become a dad and had been asking for extra work he could pick up to support his family.
He said: "Andrew was so excited to become a dad, when he told me he had that big stupid grin all over his face we joked you found your mojo now pal we laughed he would have made such a good dad.
"He was asking if I needed any other work as want extra money to put away for the baby all he wanted was to provide for his family.
"We like to thank from the bottom of our hearts atlas security, one to one lads, police and paramedic’s for their efforts in trying to save him.
"Rest easy big lad you will always be in our thoughts."
A spokesperson for Cumbria Police said: "Police attended after being alerted by NWAS at 12:55am on April 7 – to a concern for welfare of a man on Upper Jane Street, Workington.
"A man in his 20s was pronounced deceased at the scene.
"The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file has been prepared for the coroner."
