A driver on the M6 was stopped on Thursday morning after being spotted on his phone.

After being stopped by officers from Cumbria Police, the commuter admitted that he was 'texting his mate'.

The driver has since been reported following the stop.

A spokesperson from the police explained that their efforts on Thursday were a small part of a month of action against the 'Fatal Four'.

These are offences related to using a phone whilst driving, speeding, drink or drug driving, and not wearing a seatbelt.

The 'Fatal Four' are the most common causes of road accidents, and yet are some of the easiest to avoid.
