A MAN has been given a suspended prison sentence for possessing a kitchen knife in public.
Deri Hendren, 39, had the blade in his possession on Fisher Street in Workington on April 10.
He admitted possessing a knife blade in a public place when he appeared before Workington Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday.
Magistrates imposed an eight-week prison sentence, suspended for 12 months.
Hendren was also ordered to complete 60 hours of unpaid work. He must pay £85 costs.
An order was made for the defendant, of Fisher Street, Workington, to be deprived of the kitchen knife.
