A TAKEAWAY in Workington has been given a new food hygiene rating. 

Chinese Dragon on Oxford Street was given a one out of five-star hygiene rating, which means that major improvement is necessary. 

This comes after an inspection on March 26. 

Their hygienic handling of food including preparation, cooking, re-heating, cooling, and storage was found to be generally satisfactory. 

The cleanliness and condition of facilities and building (including having appropriate layout, ventilation, hand washing facilities, and pest control) to enable good food hygiene it was found that improvement was necessary.

For the management of the food safety category, it was found that major improvement was necessary.

This includes inspection of the system or checks in place to ensure that food sold or served is safe to eat, evidence that staff knows about food safety, and the food safety officer has confidence that standards will be maintained in the future.
