The Cumbria Chamber’s Directors Forum, sponsored by Muckle LLP, explored 'branding and customer service' at lifestyle hotel, Another Place, the Lake.

This event formed part of a six date series for 2024, covering topics such as sustainability, robotics, the economy, and AI and automation.

Situated on the northern shore of Ullswater, Another Place, The Lake is part of a family of hotels known for their 'relaxed active and social ethos.'

Guests can take part in activities such as kayaking, stand-up paddle boarding, archery and open water swimming.

The senior house manager of Another Place, Ste Wagner, took the forum attendees on a comprehensive tour.

It spanned the Sheep Shed, lake, the Glasshouse restaurant that serves pizza and cocktails made with ingredients from their garden, the Swim Club, and the available accommodations, including cottages, shepherd huts and a treehouse.

The tour culminated in the restaurant, where hotels director, David Vaughan, and group head of events and programming, Laura Smith, gave a presentation.

They provided insights into the business's approach towards customer service and branding, with a particular emphasis on social media engagement and the sharing of online content.

The address also discussed scheduled plans for the expansion of the group, highlighting the acquisition of The Machrie luxury golf hotel in Islay, Scotland, and the realignment of its offerings to match others in the group.

This was followed by an interactive Q&A session, engaging in discussions on the hotel group's business model, target clientele, social media strategy, challenges, and future plans.

Following the presentation, guests enjoyed a three-course meal.
