THE opening of the newly-expanded renal unit at West Cumbria's hospital has been celebrated.

Workington’s Sue Hayman and Copeland’s Trudy Harrison visited the West Cumberland Hospital to mark the open day.

The move to a bigger unit, on the former maternity ward, means the team is now able to treat more kidney dialysis patients in west Cumbria.

It also has a new training room for home haemodialysis, increasing the options available to local patients.
