Actress and singer Hazel O'Connor will be bringing her live band to West Cumbria on Sunday March 19.

The star of the film Breaking Glass, which recently celebrated its 35th anniversary, performs at the Carnegie Theatre, in Workington, on her latest nationwide tour.

The award-winning singer-songwriter is joined here by Clare Hirst, who has performed with the Communards and David Bowie, on sax, and Sarah Fisher of the Eurythmics on keyboards.

Blending the three voices and stunning musicianship gives a sweet touch of class to their vibrant performance, as they run through O'Connor's songs from the cult film Breaking Glass, including Eighth Day, Will You, Big Brother, If Only and more.

Her performance as lead character Kate in the film won her the Variety Club of Great Britain Award for Best Film Actor, and Bafta nominations for Best Newcomer and Best Film Score.

The film's soundtrack album featured songs written and performed by O'Connor and reached number five in the UK Albums Chart. Her subsequent live tour was notable for having Duran Duran as a support act, early on in their career.

The end of the 90s saw O'Connor tell her life story in a touring show entitled Beyond Breaking Glass, which was a hit at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in 1998, and in both 2003 and 2008 she appeared live at the Glastonbury festival.

Expect a soulful introspective dip into her back catalogue, combining the old and the new.

There will also be a meet and greet with Hazel after the show.

Doors open at 7.30pm, and tickets are available from the venue's box office.
