There will be a double anniversary celebration at a West Cumbrian charity's ball next month.
West Cumbria Carers will host its Silver Anniversary Ball at Armathwaite Hall on October 6.
And Roberta and Andrew Hill, of Whitehaven, are preparing for an early celebration of their silver wedding anniversary after winning tickets to the event.
West Cumbria Carers invited carers to to enter a ballot for tickets to the event.
Roberta, known as Robby, is an unpaid carers for Laura Reed, 90.
The pair know each other from St Andrew's Church and Robby started visiting Laura regularly after she had been hospitalised.
Eleven years later, she still visits twice a week, once for shopping and once for a chat and cake.
Roberta and Andrew Hill, from Whitehaven were delighted when they found out they had won two tickets to the ball. “It will be lovely for us to dress up for an evening and celebrate our Silver Wedding anniversary at such a lovely event. We were married on 9th November 1992, that’s also Andrew’s birthday so he never forgets our anniversary.”
Andrew, known as Andy, helps out, doing little jobs for her, and their son also helps keep an eye on her.
Laura has lived in her home for 68 years, since just after she married her late husband Arthur, and their support enables her to continue to live there and keep her independence.
Laura’s daughter lives in Birmingham and is delighted her mum has the Hills in her life and just round the corner.
Tickets for the fundraising ball are £35 and there are still some available. The evening will include dinner, live music, a magician and dancing.
For tickets, call Michelle McGibbon on 01900 821976.
