Motorists are being warned by Highways England to expect disruption along the A66 through Cumbria this week.

Three separate pieces of work are to be carried out along the major route.

For the next three days there will be lane closures along the stretch between Kemplay and Brougham for grass cutting, weed spraying and picking up litter.

The same improvements will then be carried along the Rheged-Penrith stretch of the road.

This is expected to take place from Wednesday until Friday.

Meanwhile resurfacing and repairs along the westbound A66 will see overnight disruption between Dacre and Hutton.

The work there is due to start tonight and is due to last for around a week, each night between 8pm and 6am.

Elsewhere, temporary traffic lights will be in place round the clock on the A590 at Lindal in Furness.

The lights are in place from today (SEPT 25) until Tuesday, October 3 for utilities to install broadband.
