Residents in Cumbria are being told to brace themselves for more potential flooding today as flood warnings and alerts remain in place across the county.
Although today is expected to be drier than yesterday, 14 flood alerts from the Environment Agency, the lowest warning level, are still in place for:
Lower river Eden (in and around Carlisle)
Middle river Eden (Lazonby area)
Rivers Brathay, Rothay and Winster (Windermere area)
Rivers Caldew and Petteril (Plumpton/Stockdalewath area)
Rivers Kent and Bela (Kendal area)
Rivers Lowther and Eamont (south of Penrith)
Rivers Wampool and Ellen (Maryport and north Allerdale)
Upper river Eden (Appleby area)
Rivers Cocker, Marron and Derwent (Cockermouth area)
Rivers Duddon, Crake and Mill Beck (Broughton-in-Furness area)
Rivers Esk and Irthing (Longtown and Kirklinton area)
Rivers Greta, St Johns Beck and Bassenthwaite lake (Keswick area)
Upper River Derwent, Stonethwaite Beck and Derwent Water (south of Keswick)
Flood warnings, the second most severe level, are in place for:
Keswick Campsite
River Eden at Carlisle, Rickerby Park, Swifts and Stoneyholme Golf Courses
River Eden at Low Crosby, Eden Golf Course Area
River Eden at Bolton
River Eden at Appleby, The Sands, Cricket ground, St Georges Field
Schools were shut, main and back roads were blocked and buses and trains were delayed yesterday as heavy rainfall battered the county.
Blennerhasset School will stay closed until tomorrow, while Fairfield Primary School in Cockermouth has closed its Key Stage 2 building due to drain damage and lack of toilet facilities, although the Key Stage 1 building is open.
Great Orton Primary School in Carlisle will remain closed today but is expected to reopen tomorrow.
The C2001 is closed at Glasson due to standing water
The C2016 Papcastle Road is closed from Derwent House Farm to Paplava
The C2008 Dovenby Toll to Janet Bridge road is closed from Old Railway Bridge to Wood side
The B5301 Arkelby Mill (Aspatria to Arkelby) road is closed
The C2016 Ribton Hall Bungalow road is closed, Camerton to Great Broughton
The U2077 Gote Pub Baggrow to Blennerhasset Bridge closed (B5299 Junction to Blennerhasset School)
The C4017 Butt Bridge road is closed from Vicarage Lane to Kirkland
The B5289 Borrowdale road is closed between Borrowdale and Rosthwaite
The Braystone to Beckermet road is closed from Braystone Bridge to Beckermet
The B6263 is closed between Wetheral and Cumwhinton
The C1016 Kingmoor Road is closed under the railway bridge
The A689 is closed at Milton
The C1009 is closed at Alstonby Grange
The C1038 is closed at Scotby Railway Bridge
The C1013 is closed at Newby East
The A6071 is closed at Irthington
The C1015 is closed at Rickerby Park
Stagecoach's X5 bus service is not operating through Braithwaite due to the road being blocked by flood defences, with the nearest stop being Middle Ruddings.
