Cumbrian journalist India Willoughby has told of her relief of completing gender reassignment surgery.

India, 52, who fully transitioned two years ago, was unveiled this week as part of the all-female line-up in Channel 5's Celebrity Big Brother.

Her fellow housemates have been asking questions of the process.

In tonight's show, looking back on the last 24 hours in the house, India was seen comparing the surgery to "having a tooth pulled out" when asked by Ashley James if it was painful.

She said: "No, do you know what, it’s like having a tooth out, seriously, I’ve been in more agony going to the dentist.

"Everyone’s always like, ‘What was it like when you woke up, were you really sore? And were you really excited?’

"I felt no difference whatsoever. I was just really relieved that it was all over with. Before then, right from being a kid, the first thing that was going on in my head every day I woke up was this gender thing.

"My body didn’t match the brain, it was like a phantom limb."

India also explained how she "never enjoyed" being a man, adding "it was always stressful and really exhausting."

India confirmed she had surgery on the NHS, sparking a debate with politician Ann Widdecombe.

When asked by Rachel Johnson her opinion on the matter, Ann said: "Well the fact is that NHS can’t do everything, isn’t doing everything, and you’ve got to ask yourself what the priorities should be.

"Priorities are fine, as long as you’re not the one implementing them."

However Ashley James pointed out that it should be a priority as it’s life changing surgery as India revealed how half of all transgender people consider suicide.

India also agreed it was "time to reconsider" introducing some charges in the NHS.

Tomorrow eight men are set to enter the house and bring a new dynamic to the cast.
