THREE bands will be heading over from Italy for a weekend of pop punk to get 2017 well and truly under way in Workington.

Friday January 6 and Saturday 7 both see bands from the country headline at Lounge 41 in Workington.

Four-piece Torino outfit Stereo Age are the first to top the bill, touring in support of their brand-new single, Mutual Aid.

Among the leading names on Italy's burgeoning rock and punk scene, the established act has regularly toured across Europe since forming seven years ago - the coming together of members from several local bands.

Also signed to a Japanese label, they recently toured to Far East Asia as they continue to make a name for themselves outside their home country.

They are joined on their UK mini-tour by Well Planned Attack, who hail from Vicenza.

Their sound is a blend of old school and new style pop punk with influences as Blink 182, Hit The Lights and The Story So Far.

Having released their latest EP, A Place To Call Home, back in spring 2015, they too have toured Japan of late.

Saturday's only confirmed band so far are the headliners, Raise Your Fall, from Modena.

The five-piece mix harmonic female and male vocals with dynamic and catchy riffs, in evidence on their new single, 4AM, released to coincide with the tour.

This will be the band's first visit to the UK, before gearing up for a new release later in the year.

Among the Italian acts to play at Lounge 41 in 2016 were For Sore Eyes, Why Everyone Left, and The Blue Giants, and more are expected to appear in Workington this year, furthering Italy's reputation as the new home of pop punk.

Doors for both shows open at 7pm, and entrance is free.
