A man who stole hundreds of pounds worth of perfume from a West Cumbrian department store has been jailed.

Ryan Crellin, 39, took perfume worth £578 from Debenhams in Workington on January 14.

He appeared at West Cumbria Magistrates Court in Workington yesterday and admitted the offence.

He also admitted carrying, on January 15, a bag lined with tin foil, for use in connection with theft, and failing to surrender to custody on February 16.

Crellin, of no fixed address, was on licence at the time of the offences.

He was jailed for six weeks and ordered to pay a £115 surcharge.
