MANCHESTER United's highly-rated Cumbrian keeper Dean Henderson has clinched a loan move to Championship side Sheffield United.

The Whitehaven-born former Carlisle United academy No1 will spend next season with the Blades.

The 21-year-old's move comes just days after he signed a new two-year deal at Old Trafford.

It is a further step up the first-team ranks for England Under-21 international Henderson, who spent last season with League One play-off finalists Shrewsbury after a spell in League Two with Grimsby.

Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder said: "This is a big one for us, as Dean was certainly a target for rival clubs in our division.

"Dean is a confident boy, who has proved himself wherever he has been. He is positive and most importantly a winner and he will handle the pressure of coming here."

Henderson's agent is the former Carlisle left-back Sean McDaid.
