Maryport's Settlement may have a new name but it is business as usual for the Castle Hill Trust.
Overseeing the launch of the new charity last Thursday, compere Geoff Wilkinson said the new name was actually the old address of the High Street building.
He added: "The Settlment was a charity that provided for the elderly, the disabled, the unemployed and the vulnerable and it will still do that.
"In fact, while the name of the charity has changed, to Maryport people it was always be the Settlement now the Settlement on Castle Hill."
Chairman Jim O'Rourke said the main difference was that the charity, which had struggled financially, was now run by volunteers. He appealed to anyone willing to help in any way to get in touch.
The new charity was launched by county councillor Carni McCarron-Holmes who said she had been involved with the Settlement from the age of three when she attended a nursery there.
The Castle Hill Trust provides a range of activities including garden club, art classes and a weekly job club.
Earlier this month the county council's Allerdale local committee awarded the charity £3,550 for laptops and IT support for the club.
The free job club sessions twice a week to assist users with their online job applications. Around eight to 10 people use the service each session.
