Councillor Chambers, a health and safety officer at Allerdale council, has been elected for the third time.
The vote was unanimous and Mr Chambers said he accepted the position after nobody else stepped forward.
He said he was pleased to have another chance to see through some projects started during his time as mayor, including the completion of an asset transfer which would mean Allerdale council transferring its car park and public toilets to the town council. This would safeguard the toilets and ensure that there is always free parking in the town.
Coun Chambers is also keen to see Aspatria build on its Cumbria in Bloom success which saw it in the best small town award after entering for the first time last year.
He is writing an emergency plan to ensure that the community is ready to act in any civil defence emergency such as the flooding caused by Storm Desmond in 2015.
Alan Reay, 77, is deputy mayor again.
