Promising Cumbrian metal pair Red Shift and GlassHouses will team up for a Halloween double header.

The pair both feature on the bill at The Basement Bar, in Ulverston, on Friday October 28, along with fellow Barrow bands Isolhate and Eternal Autumn, before moving up to Lounge 41, in Workington, on Saturday night.

Progressive metal outfit Red Shift have had their biggest year so far, having been a feature of the Furness live music scene for half a decade.

With seven members, and both male and female vocals, they are known for their distinctive sound and all-action live shows.

This summer they released their debut EP, Origins, and played a series of Cumbrian dates in support of it. The record displays the members' various influences, ranging from Pantera and Tesseract to Dream Theater and Nightwish.

Originally an instrumental act, the three founding members all now take up guitar roles in the band, which blends technical time signatures and heavy riffs with much more melodic passages.

The live shows will feature material from the EP as well as some newer material, which is expected to appear on a full-length release at a later date.

GlassHouses are a newer proposition, having only made fleeting appearances before this year, but they've stepped up their gigging schedule in 2016.

The Barrow-based progressive metalcore act have appeared on the bill at hometown events such as Funeral Fest and In Bloom, while they previously played at Lounge 41 in support of highly-rated visiting band When Our Time Comes.

The four-piece released their first single, Sweet Dreams, back in the spring, with more self-penned material hinting at a future release in the pipeline.

For the Ulverston date, experienced local metal favourites Isolhate will also be a big draw, having played alongside heavyweights such as As I Lay Dying and The Bronx in the past.

Eternal Autumn made their first appearance over the summer, having formed from ex-members of Livin' Endlessly and End of Solitude.

The Ulverston show gets under way at 8pm, and entrance is payable on the night. For Saturday's Workington date, doors open at 7pm and entrance is free.
