A family is celebrating after being reunited with their missing dog, almost 48 hours after he went missing.

Bruno the elderly boxer dog ran off after being hit by a car in Egremont on Sunday afternoon.

His heartbroken family launched a desperate appeal for help finding him, resulting in a huge search across the area.

They finally got him back this afternoon.

They have thanked the local community for rallying round to help with the search, and everyone who shared his photo across social media.

Adam Gair and girlfriend Mackenzie Leder said 11-year-old Bruno took off after the accident in Howbank Road. They were unsure if he was hurt, and searched everywhere for him.

But, just when they were starting to fear the worst, the received a call thsi afternoon saying he had been sighted.

He was found, unhurt, at Beck Green earlier today.

Delighted Mackenzie, whose daughter Elsie had also been worried about Bruno, said: "We are over the moon to have him back. We want to thank everyone who helped in the search for our beloved Bruno."
