Friends and family of a former Maryport rugby player will get together to raise money in his memory.

CrozFest will be held on Saturday to raise money in memory of Sean Crozier, who died at the age of 27 after being diagnosed with stomach cancer.

The event at Maryport Rugby League Club will raise cash for the Henderson Suite at West Cumberland Hospital in Whitehaven.

Paul Williamson, club's committee member, said: "Sean used to play rugby for us and this event is in his memory. He tragically died of cancer at a young age and this is an opportunity for friends, family and ex colleagues to get together and raise money.

"We did a similar event last year and we raised quite a lot, around £3,000.

"We don't have a fundraising target, the event is about getting together and remembering him while raising money."

Bands will be playing throughout the day from 3pm to 10pm. Acts performing include The Buyer'S Club, Rukus, Homegrown and acoustic sets from Broken English and The Mayfair Suite.

Mr Crozier, of Eaglesfield Street, died in 2015 after fighting the disease for two years.
