An amateur dramatics group hopes to reach out to grab the attention of West Cumbria's rock scene with its next production.

Workington and District Amateur Musical Society is preparing to stage Rock of Ages at the Carnegie Theatre in May.

The show will feature Sophie Edmondson as Sherrie Christian, Andrew McMinn as Drew Boley, Daniel Maccreedy, the show's director, as Lonny Barnett, Steve Woods as Dennis Dupree and Jack Pike as Stacee Jaxx

Jenna Walker will play Regina Koontz, Adam Maccreedy will be Franz Klinemann and Eric Finlay will portray Hertz Klinemann.

Kim Fisher takes on the role of Justice Charlier, Helen Corless is Sherrie's Mom, Zoe Warren is Waitress #1, Donna Bradley is Mayor/Ja’Keith and Becca Milligan is Constance Sack.

Daniel said: "We decided to do the production as soon as we knew it was available. We know there’s a keen rock scene locally and we felt that this show would reach out to those who wouldn’t normally come and see a musical.

"Our regular followers will still get a typical musical, with the added bonus of some well known 80s rock songs. The show has plenty of parts at a variety of ages with new and exciting challenges for our ensemble and dancers.

"We are also looking to incorporate new technologies and different styles of of lighting to normal as this show has such a big reputation."

The show runs from May 16 to 19 at 7.30pm and tickets are £14.
