Two young men involved in a Workington mobile phone shop burglary have avoided being locked up for the crime.
Gaij Ray Murdoch, 19, and 21-year-old Scott Motum were sentenced by a judge at Carlisle Crown Court today having admitted burglary.
Judge Barbara Forrester heard the shop - Mobile Booth - had been left secure on the night of February 21.
However, the owner returned the next day to find £4,665 worth of stock was missing, and a large amount of damage caused.
Forensic evidence linked Murdoch and Motum to the crime. Both men were said to have spent time in custody since the offence.
As a result, Judge Forrester gave Murdoch, of Vulcans Lane, Workington, a 16-week prison term, suspended for 12 months.
He must complete unpaid work and was given a nighttime curfew, along with rehabilitation and attendance centre orders.
Motum, of John Street, Workington, - who admitted his guilt at an earlier stage - received a rehabilitation requirement and unpaid work.
