With Halloween weekend upon us, this could only mean one thing for Workington rockers Youth Salute, and that was the release of their highly-anticipated EP, Carve.

Positive reaction to the EP had been flooding social media throughout the day, on Friday October 28, and what better way to celebrate the occasion than by headlining a hometown show with an impressive line-up?

There was a long night in store with five bands set to play Lounge 41, and kicking off the night, after four hours on the road, were three-piece alternative rock band Loose Tooth.

Perfectly fitting for Halloween, they brought a heavier and grunge feel to Lounge 41 with guitarist Oli Knight's rugged vocals, along with unclean vocals provided by bass player Adam Cator. Add in Josh Millar on drums and you have an impressive trio of talent that brought a fully-deserved positive response from the crowd.

We Came From Wolves Next up were We Came From Wolves - who came down from Scotland - bringing more of an upbeat vibe to the night.

Throwing out some catchy melodies with a Scottish twang, and raising the energy of the increasing crowd, WCFW were a fabulous addition to the line up - especially in their Poundland Halloween outfits.

From their hometown of Reading, quartet Echoic brought the drama with meaningful songs, impressive rock breakdowns and beautiful soulful vocals. Also enhanced with electronic elements this is one special band with a unique sound, who are deservedly touring their way round the UK and Europe.

The main support slot went to Leeds alt rockers Vexxes, who, fresh from an appearance on the Reading and Leeds Introducing Stage, are stamping their mark on melodic rock.

With catchy tunes and clean cut vocals these guys have been recommended for fans of fellow British bands such as You Me At Six and Deaf Havana.

The four-piece brought along lots of their own energy proving their showmanship, and enthusiasm for interacting with their audience, and certainly did not disappoint by providing the buzz and hype for the imminent headliners.
Incredible: Youth Salute

So with Lounge 41 officially packed out, Shane, Kristian, Andrew and Jordan took to the stage to celebrate all their hard work that came down to the release of Carve.

Youth Salute jumped straight in with their newest single, Shudder, and the place was bouncing. The new songs sound incredible live, showcasing everything we love about this band with more riffs and creating a heavier aspect to their sound.

The volume noticeably rose during the fan favourite and set closer, Blood, in which a certain Lee Sharp of Stand Up Arcade made a spontaneous guest vocal appearance.

It was an action packed night filled with ghoulish costumes, incredible music, and an overall success for Youth Salute.

The artistry and talent certainly shines through, and it's only a matter of time before this recognition could mean something big for these guys.
