Two Workington Reds fans rushed to save the life of a fellow spectator who collapsed at Saturday's away match against Matlock.
The man, in his fifties, suffered a cardiac arrest.
He had undergone a triple by-pass operation last year, and was in a queue at Matlock’s tea bar when he collapsed.
Two Reds fans rushed to help, and have now been hailed lifesavers.
Retired GP Simon Wilson, father of Reds midfielder Rob Wilson, was nearby and reacted immediately while midwife Elaine Heron, who was driving the travelling Workington supporters’ mini-bus, joined in.
The pair gave mouth to mouth resuscitation and CPR until paramedics and an ambulance crew arrived to take over.
An air ambulance was summoned and landed on the Causeway Lane pitch, which resulted in the Evo Stik Premier League match being delayed for 45 minutes. Reds won the game 2-1.
