Roadworks are set to disrupt traffic in Workington town centre next week.

Resurfacing work is planned at the junction of Vulcans Lane and Oxford Street and in both streets, with the first phase due to start on Monday.

The works are expected to take a week.

The first phase will stretch from the junction down Vulcans Lane in the direction of Harrington Road, with a signed diversion in place via Oxford Street, Station Road, the A597, Annie Pit Lane, Harrington Road and Vulcans Lane.

Phase two will close a stretch of Vulcans Lane from the junction towards South William Street and phase three will close a stretch of Oxford Street across the junction with Vulcans Lane.

The second and third phases are expected to be carried out overnight to minimise disruption, with signed diversions in place.

Access will be maintained for pedestrians and cyclists.
