Roxanne Pallett has been making her mark in the Celebrity Big Brother house - singing the American national anthem.

The Carlisle-born actress and radio presenter belted out the song as part of a presidential ball, highlights of which were aired over the weekend.

She was then the first housemate in this year's series to find herself falling into the pool while fully clothed in an electric blue dress.

The former Emmerdale star's plunge sparked some lively debate on social media, where she has become one of the most talked about contenders in the show so far.

She has also, meanwhile, been sharing her thoughts over her father with co-star Hardeep Singh Kohli.

Roxanne spoke to the comedian, chef and television presenter a little about how she was raised by her mother and grandmother in Carlisle.

It has previously been reported that she and her father have not had contact since she was a child.

As Kohli asked why she hadn't seen her father or searched for him, Roxanne, 36, said simply: "I thought it would be an insult to my mam and grandma."

She went on to say she didn't care where he was, adding: "I don't care. I don't know. He, my dad, I believe he's in Tehran. I believe but I've never really asked. I assume."

Last week it was revealed that Roxanne, recently taken to hospital following a terrifying car crash, had become engaged to 40-year-old steel worker Lee Walton just a week after meeting him.

Celebrity Big Brother is airing nightly on Channel 5.
