THE music of the Spice Girls is set to fill venues across the UK once again with a major tour heading to West Cumbria this autumn.

Wannabe: The Spice Girls Show is the original Spice Girls-themed theatre show and for 10 years it has been travelling the world, performing all of the world famous girl group’s biggest hits.

A nationwide tour calls at the Carnegie Theatre, in Workington, on Friday November 3.

The 90s have been coming back with a bang in recent years, with the return of Take That to the charts, and Steps announcing a tour. Workington itself will see the likes of A1, 5ive and Atomic Kitten all appearing at TownFest this summer, and even the Spice Girls themselves are coming back for a concert in Hyde Park.

The Spice Girls got the world’s attention with their debut single, Wannabe, released in July 1996. The single went on to become one of the best-selling singles of all time, topping the charts in 37 countries and selling over six million copies.

Their "girl power" defined a generation, and saw the band becoming pop icons for many children, teenagers and adults at the time.

Now, 21 years after the first single launch, the fun-filled, high-octane Spice Girls concert Wannabe brings the memories flooding back.

This popular tribute to Scary, Posh, Ginger, Baby and Sporty Spice will be bringing their full concert tour to theatres all over the country this year.

Tour director Anna Slater says: "We’re all obsessed with 90s music and we wanted to make a big splash with this huge concert tour.

"We’re creating the ultimate girls night out and who doesn’t know the words to Spice Up Your Life or Stop?"

All the hits are included in the show, with songs including Viva Forever, 2 Become 1, Who Do You Think You Are? and a newly-arranged medley covering the girls' solo careers, from Mel C's Never Be The Same Again to Geri Halliwell's version of It’s Raining Men.

Wannabe: The Spice Girls Show comes to the Carnegie Theatre on November 3, and tickets are available from the venue's box office now.
