THE history of Celtic music is charted in a top live show, heading for Workington.

Creeds Cross: The Celtic Journey is an extraordinary evening of song and dance, paying tribute to the music of Ireland, documenting its influence across the globe.

The show pays homage to great Celtic music, and the fiddle and banjo especially, with some highly-accomplished musicians part of the tour's line-up, including its founder, Bart Foley, who has worked with many artists, such as The All Saints, Randy Bachman and Cilla Black.

Swedish-born classically-trained violinist Maria Kroon, Swiss drummer Martin Stewart, Londoners Alice Morgan and Rachel Downey are pianist and lead dancer respectively, and homegrown talents, bassist Tiernan Godel, Shane MacGowan's former banjo player Brian Kelly, and talented young dancer Megan Kenny, make for an experienced cast of international performers.

From Galway to Nashville and beyond, diverse musical genres like bluegrass, country, Americana, and folk can all have their origins traced back to the early influence of Irish and Scottish traditional music, and are all in evidence in the extensive set-list.

Expect to hear tracks as diverse as Galway Girl, The Hills Of Donegal, The Rocky Road To Dublin, The Devil Went Down To Georgia, and Duelling Banjos.

Creeds Cross runs on Friday (Mar 31) at 7.30pm. Tickets are available from the venue's box office.
