THE cast for a new one-off production at Workington’s Theatre Royal is set to be finalised on Monday - just three days before it hits the stage.

Young acting talent of West Cumbria will have the chance to shine in an original fantasy entitled Unhappily Ever After - a very different twist on the traditional story of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.

The play is being staged for one night only, on Thursday October 27, by the Theatre Royal Second Star Youth Theatre, and is directed by Millie Hardy-Sims, who co-authored it with Second Star Youth theatre member Connor McClenan.

Katie Sharrock is stage manager, with lighting by Geoff Brinicombe and sound by Jamie Sims.

The play diverges in a lively and enchanting style when the handsome prince doesn’t arrive with the wake-up kiss for Snow White. In fact he’s been locked in a dungeon with the Sea Witch by the Evil Queen.

The drama moves on with a revolt against the Evil Queen led by Robin Hood and the Band of the Red Apple. The heroics also bring Puss in Boots, Rapunzel and the Big Bad Wolf into the story line.

This presentation is part of a four-day project for the young actors and the play will not be cast until after auditions on October 24, which leaves only three days for the young actors to learn their parts ahead of curtain up.

The show starts at 6.30pm, and tickets are available in advance from the Theatre Royal’s new box office line, 01900 603161.
