Two people remain in a critical condition following a crash in High Harrington yesterday morning.

A Ford Fiesta with five people inside crashed into a tree on Scaw Road, High Harrington, at around 3am.

The driver, a 23-year-old Maryport man, and a woman were taken to the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle, where they remain in a critical condition.

Two men were taken to the West Cumberland Hospital. One of them remains in hospital with a fractured spine but the other one has now been released.

Another man was taken to the Cumberland Infirmary, Carlisle, with a broken leg.

Anyone with information on the incident is asked to contact police on 101 and ask to speak to PC 391 Kelso.
