Traffic disruption is expected in Keswick in the coming weeks as Cumbria County Council carries out three sets of roadworks.

Work is set to begin on Crosthwaite Road on September 4 and last for 30 days.

Traffic lights will be in place while work is carried out on pavements, with a temporary road closure needed for resurfacing work.

Parts of the A591 from Penrith Road to Castlerigg are due to be closed for two weeks from September 18.

The scheme is split into two phases.

The first, taking in a 550m stretch of road, is due to take six days, from September 18 to 23.

Phase two, on a 390m stretch, is due to take four days from September 25 to 28.

Lining work on both stretches is set to be carried out on September 29 under traffic lights.

And from October 2, the A591 is set to be closed for three days from Chestnut Hill to its slip road for carriageway reconstruction.

The work has been part funded by Government flood recovery money.

The dates have been planned to avoid the busy summer tourist period but take place before the weather becomes too cold for the work to be done.

All work is weather dependent.

A council spokesman said the work would be co-ordinated to ensure only one road closure was in place at a time.
