An Aspatria man has been charged for attempting to incite a child in sexual activity.
David Duthie, 47, of Brough Street, appeared at Carlisle Magistrates Court yesterday and was charged with attempting to incite a child under 13 to engage in sexual activity; attempting to arrange or facilitate the commission of a child sex offence and attempting to sexually communicate with a child.
He was remanded in custody and is due to appear at Carlisle Crown Court on November 20.
A Cumbria police spokesman said: "No one else is suspected of any offences in this investigation. The police request that the Court process is allowed to follow its natural course, and ask members of the public to refrain from discussing the case on social media."
