Rock for Heroes returns to Workington Royal British Legion Club tomorrow.

Sam Jackson, whose mother Lesley organises Workington’s Armed Forces Day parade, has announced that Rock for Heroes will be held again this month after an absence last year.

He said: “We missed last year because my partner, Sam Payne, was pregnant. We now have a little boy and are back in action.”

Rock for Heroes will begin at 4pm and offer a varied programme of music featuring many of Cumbria’s most popular groups, including Mama-Sang and the Robots, Fat Albert, the Clints, Luke Norman, MT Arms and headliners the Low Keys.

Helping Sam organise the event is Thomas Beck, Matthew Richardson, Tom Agnew, Samantha Payne and Sue Riach.

Sam Jackson said raising money and working for heroes is just part of life.

“Mum organises the armed forces day. I have one brother, Matthew Richardson, who is in the army and Jamie who has left.

“My girlfriend, Samantha, is also ex-services so I have been involved in this for years.

“The only reason we didn’t do Rock for Heroes last year was because of the baby,” he added.

He said the mini music festival will raise money to help fund the Armed Forces Day parade as well as to help the British Legion in Workington.

The event will be held at Workington Royal British Legion Club tomorrow. Doors open at 4pm. Tickets are £10 which includes a free drink and free raffle ticket.
