A popular Workingtion receptionist has retired from the nursery she has worked in for a decade.

Enid Rollason has provided administrative support to Footsteps Nursery in Westfield since 2007.

Staff, parents and nursery children gathered to celebrate Mrs Rollason's retirement on Tuesday. She was presented with a bouquet of flowers by the Mayor of Workington and the children sang.

Mrs Rollason said: "‘The last ten years have gone by so quickly. It has been lovely watching the nursery grow from strength to strength and it has been really exciting to be a part of it."

She is now looking forward to spending more time with her grandchildren and holidaying with her husband, Keith.

Enid started her working career in 1965 on the counting machines at Marchon in Whitehaven and has seen many changes in the world of admin.

Karen Fisher, nursery manager, said her knowledge and experience has helped strengthen the management team as the nursery has grown in size over the years.

She continued: "The younger members of staff refer to Enid as Grandma and she has indeed filled that role for many.

"The parents hold her in high esteem, describing her as one of the loveliest ladies they know.

"She is kind, helpful, knowledgeable throughout and able to deploy the exact level of empathy required for each situation. She will be missed by everyone."
