Following on from their hugely successful joint show at Castlegate House in 2015, the two very different young artists team up once more to present Continuance.

The pair are very different in style, form and execution, but with something in common - they are part of the growing movement that is once again making contemporary art executed in the traditional form of paint, "of the moment".

The exhibition opens on Saturday November 5 and runs until Saturday 26, but the pieces have been available to view and purchase in advance, with a handful already being sold.

Reflection 16, by Jessica Pigott Jess’ work is typified by large paintings with the central subject being a study of tree forms. With both artists presenting only brand-new pieces, her focus is on the forms, colours, light and shade that can be found within woodland settings, which she has been exploring for this exhibition.

Of the 23 paintings by Jess, all but two are small exquisite works, incorporating oil, collage and ink on many.

Alex is renowned for his very individual work based around people and everyday situations. He came to art after a serious road accident and painting became a part of his recovery, with much of his work focusing on the study of friends and family.

Here, he’s exploring the genesis of art, from children drawing on the ground, to interpretations of a child’s view of world around them.

Doors to the exhibition will open at 10am on Saturday November 5, and a reception will be held from noon until 2pm, with both artists in attendance.
