A LOWESWATER inn has been named West Cumbria CAMRA pub of the year.
The Kirkstile Inn, owned by Roger and Helen Humphreys, was presented with the award by the Campaign for Real Ale last Saturday.
Three pubs had been nominated for the award.
The runners up were 1761 at Cockermouth and the Gosforth Hall Hotel.
Stephen Walker, chairman of West Cumbria CAMRA, said the pub offered a good pint of beer and a warm welcome in a wonderful setting.
Mr Humphreys said: “It is a very prestigious award and we are absolutely thrilled to receive it. It is a tribute to all of the staff who work here.”
The Kirkstile has its own brewery on the premises and brews four regular ales - LPA, Kirkstile Gold, Melbreak and Grasmoor and a special Rannerdale Best.
It has won the award three times before and has now gone forward to the next round of judging for Cumbria Pub of the Year.
It is up against The Pheasant Inn, Cumwhitton, Old Dungeon Ghyll Hotel, Great Langdale and The Manor Arms, Broughton-in-Furness.
The winner, to be announced next month, will then go into the West Pennines Region competition.
