WORKINGTON’S latest pub, which has created 25 jobs, will open its doors at the end of the month.
Pub chain Barracuda Group Ltd has transformed the former Listers Carpets on Finkle Street into a bar called The Bounty.
The company says its investment is worth about £800,000.
It is the first Barracuda-owned bar in Cumbria. It will open daily at 10am and serve food, including breakfasts and pizzas.
A spokeswoman said: “It will be an upmarket pub with lots of comfy sofas for people to relax on.
“It will change throughout the day – for breakfast, then lunchtime shoppers and then for night-time.”
An application by pub chain Barracuda Group Ltd was refused last August because of a concern about noise and its deliveries along busy town centre roads.
But in November, Allerdale councillors approved the application. Conditions were attached to the approval, including live or recorded music be banned from the outside seating area and deliveries be made only between 10am and 2pm Monday to Friday, excluding bank holidays.
