A WORKINGTON clothes shop has closed down, with the loss of five jobs.
National chain Autonomy, on Risman Place in Washington Square, shut its doors on Wednesday at 1pm.
Staff were only informed of the closure eight days before it happened.
It was revealed in February that it would close due to a lack of trade, but no date was given.
However, a national lingerie firm has expressed an interest in the premises and Dave Fletcher, town centre development manager, said: “We are sad that it’s going but hopefully the premises will be filled within two months. Negotiations are ongoing for a new tenancy.”
