A COCKERMOUTH woman is opening a pilates studio in Cockermouth’s Market Place.
Ruth Noonan, 38, of Lorton Street, is opening the studio in the former Cumberland Toy and Model Museum in Banks Court.
Ruth is a qualified fitness instructor and has worked as a group exercise instructor and a personal trainer. She has been teaching pilates for around two years. Pilates aims to improve posture and strengthen the body.
The studio will host classes at beginner, essential, intermediate and advanced levels as well as specific classes for older adults and people with back problems.
Ruth will also run courses in fitness instruction.
Ruth moved to the town in 2003 and wanted to open a studio because, she felt, there was a lack of provision in the area.
An open day is being held at the studio on Saturday, August 30 between 9am and 5pm and Ruth hopes it will open by the end of next month.
For more information, call Ruth on 01900 827239.
