Christmas deadline for garage extension

A WORKINGTON garage wants to double its size with a £50,000 extension.
Gary Eilbeck, who runs Eilbeck Motors on the Lillyhall Industrial Estate on Pittwood Road, has applied for planning permission for the extension for a bigger fleet of vehicles and to provide added security for them.
Mr Eilbeck had just two vans and a minibus when he started the rental side of his business in 2004.
But he now has 54 vehicles, including vans, minibuses and cars. Mr Eilbeck also runs a vehicle repair service.
Mr Eilbeck said: “We are the biggest independent vehicle rental service around here and the only one that does minibuses.
“We are quite simply running out of space for the vehicles which need to be stored and valeted. We also have to repair and service our own vehicles.
“This garage extension is also going to provide us with added security.”
Mr Eilbeck also wants to resurface the yard with concrete, build a new office and may take on new employees.
He hopes to start work as soon as planning permission is granted.
He said: “Planning permission hopefully won’t be too far away but it’s at least another three weeks. I’m hoping to have it up at least before Christmas.”
