WORK is continuing on the £325 million Robin Rigg offshore, 60-turbine wind farm.
Foundations are in place for nine turbines at the site seven-and-a-half miles off Maryport.
One of the two sub stations has already been erected with the building of the other one going to take place soon.
E.on, the energy company building the wind farm, hopes that the project, which could provide power to 117,000 homes, could be finished by the middle of next year.
A spokesman for E.on said: “We are progressing well but do not have a definite date for the completion.
“We hope it will be by the middle of next year although there are various factors which could put back this deadline. We feel this is a challenging but workable deadline and we are still working to the original proposed date of completion.”
A team of 32, at the Port of Workington, are working on the wind farm. Once all 60 foundations are in place, work will begin on the 420ft turbines. It is not known exactly when this will begin.
The project has already suffered problems, when work started later than expected last August after a jack-up barge was delayed.
Weeks later, 38 workers were rescued from a barge after it began to capsize.
