A TRADITIONAL barber’s shop has opened in Cockermouth. The Original Barber Company, in Market Place, offers wet shaves as well as haircuts.
Owner Richard Jojo, 56, of Embleton, said: “It offers something a bit different, in a nice location and in a beautiful old building.
“I am proud I have managed to recruit workers and do the place up.
“I am looking to bring a bit of the big city into a small market town.”
He hopes that the shop will offer manicures, men’s accessories and toiletries, and head and neck massages.
He is also considering a mobile service where staff may go to homes or hotels to offer haircuts and shaves.
The shop was due to open at the end of June but Mr Jojo said that problems with an electricity meter and recruitment caused a delay.
