WORKINGTON’S own American-style cafe will open on Monday.
Harveys Cafe on Jane Street, below the Hoggs and Heffers nightclub, is the brainchild of nightclub owner Kevin Norman.
Mr Norman also runs the Curwen Arms and the Traveller’s Rest pubs in the town.
He said: “I got the idea when I was working in New York three years ago. It’s a sort of Central Park-type cafe bar. It will have a retro American diner look.”
The bar is named after Mr Norman’s nephew Harvey Wilson, who will be one year old this year.
Mr Norman said: “The name is sort of a birthday present.”
The cafe bar will serve hot drinks, including coffee and speciality teas, sandwiches and bagels.
Harveys Cafe will open for business on Monday at 10am and its official opening will take place on December 13 when DJ Casper and the Outhere Brothers will cut a ribbon.
