Seventeen jobs at a recruitment business which has offices in Dovenby are under threat.

NRL plans to move its support services to Wigan.

An NRL spokesman said: “We can confirm that all roles in our Dovenby office are currently in consultation regarding the possibility of moving to a new group office in Wigan.

“We have not taken the decision to start this process lightly and will be doing everything we can to support the members of our team regardless of the outcome of the consultation.

“This is as a result of changes in the sector and the business giving us a new tech and automation focus and us having to analyse where the newly required skills sit within the group and the country.

“This will ensure the continued effectiveness of the whole group.

“This, of course, in no way reflects our commitment to Cumbria – our nuclear pedigree and the emerging opportunities in this area are integral to the future plans of the business and we are committed to continuing to invest in our Egremont teams and office.”

In December, eight staff at the NRL’s Dovenby office were made redundant.

They all worked for an accountancy business, Simplyco.

NRL sold it to PayStream, which is based in Altrincham.
