A couple are whetting appetites across West Cumbria after launching their own business delivering freshly cooked meals.

Michael and Colette Stuart, of Pica, near Workington, have launched The Dinner Club.

The duo used to run Grandma's Pantry, Lucifer's cafe and the Travellers Rest in Workington.

They provide meals including Sunday dinners, lasagne, chilli con carne and curries which customers can order and have delivered to their work or home.

Michael said: "We've been involved in food in Workington for many years on and off and it came about because my mother-in-law is quite elderly and she struggles.

"It was about getting good quality food to people who need it, but it's evolved into something different.

"There's no target audience as everybody eats.

"It was going to be lunch on Sundays, but it's grown from there with other bits and pieces.

"People have asked if we could do some things or go down a certain road and it's about giving the audience what they want."

The couple also offer meals that are suitable for people who attend Slimming World classes.

The meals are all made from scratch, but are suitable for home freezing and can be delivered on demand.

They plan to introduce pies and international food to the menu.

Michael added: "We're keen to listen to what people have to say. We both love food.

"I enjoy cooking and Colette's a qualified chef. I've always been around food.

"Everybody is looking for something different to eat. We would like to make this full-time.

The duo have also set up a page on social networking website Facebook for their new business.
