Attempts to revoke planning permission for a Cockermouth housing development have been unsuccessful.

Some residents approached the Secretary of State in February calling for permission to be revoked for the Strawberry How 320-home development. They felt permission had been improperly granted, and said Environment Agency data was incorrect in that it suggested the Tom Rudd Beck does not contribute to flooding downstream.

The residents' plea was supported by a letter from three Allerdale councillors, Len Davies, Nicky Cockburn and Bill Finlay, who sat on the development panel when permission was granted in December 2014.

Their requests were considered but unsuccessful.
