Booths in Keswick is holding a community celebration to mark its full reopening today. (THURS)

Staff at the store are inviting people to join them for a celebratory day with local producer tastings from 11am to 3pm.

Brysons of Keswick have made a Sand Bag Flood Cake specially for the occasion. The craft bakery is one of a number of Cumbrian suppliers who will feature in the tastings alongside Appleby Creamery, Hawkshead Brewery and Claire's Handmade Preserves, of Fletchertown, near Wigton.

Later on in the evening from 7pm to 9pm a community reception will be held in Booths' cafe for locals and staff members. Those who go along will be given glasses of prosecco and entertained by local band Jazz Town Trio.

Andy Beeforth, chief executive of Cumbria Community Foundation, will give people an update on progress in Keswick after the floods and information on grants that are still available. It was announced this week that pound for pound match funding from the Government for the Cumbria Flood Recovery Appeal has seen the total funds raised reach £9.6m.

Darren Jacques, store manager, will also give a brief update on the store, which has opened in two phases because the damage to the building and shop fittings, including refrigeration units and counters, was so extensive.

The store on Tithebarn Street had to be rebuilt after the December floods but Booths took the opportunity to upgrade the shop,  installing flood resilience and investing in the latest green technology. Today the fresh counters, hot food counter and cafe will reopen.
