Cockermouth’s Trout Hotel has been awarded the VisitEngland Gold Award.
The Crown Street hotel has jumped up in the ratings this year, after the national awarding body recognised that it consistently offers customers the best in terms of the quality of its bedrooms, bathrooms, food and cleanliness levels.
The four-star Trout Hotel previously held a VisitEngland Silver Award.
VisitEngland’s star ratings system is used to measure all hotels and guest accommodation in England.
Sue Eccles, managing director of the Trout Hotel, said: "Everybody at the hotel is absolutely delighted by the award and its a lovely feeling seeing all our hard-work and effort being acknowledged."
