Plans for four new homes off Ellerbeck Lane in Workington have been put on hold.

At a meeting of Allerdale’s development panel yesterday, councillors said they want to visit the site to understand its relationship to neighbouring properties and consider any potential drainage issues.

An earlier application to build on the land had been rejected by the Government.

The fresh bid, which has been recommended for approval, has sparked objections, including fears that the new homes will overlook existing homes.

Workington Town Council also objected on grounds of overdevelopment.

Members of the development panel will visit the area prior to debating it at a meeting.
