Businesses around Cumbria still have time to celebrate their achievements at this year's in-cumbria Business Awards.

Following a surge of interest from all sectors of industry across the county the deadline for entries has been extended by a week to Friday, July 21.

Companies large and small are vying for honours in the prestigious awards which celebrate the cream of Cumbrian business.

This year's awards will be presented by the BBC's media editor Amol Rajan, a former editor of The Independent, at the Halston Hotel in Carlisle on November 9.

James Higgins, group editor with the CN Group, is keen to get as many entrants as possible for the awards and encouraged any company or individual with something to celebrate to put their name forward for a prize.

He said: "There has been a fantastic response to this year's business awards and I am really looking forward to the big night in November, and to meeting the shorlisted finalists.

"The awards really do present businesses with an opportunity to showcase their achievements talents and hard-working staff. I would encourage everyone to take advantage of this platform by putting an entry forward."

Businesses from all areas and all sectors are invited to enter with previous winners including Carlisle United FC, adventure company Treetop Trek in Windermere, project management services provider Prima Uno in Cleator Moor and financial services firm Armstrong Watson.

A distinguished panel of judges from the world of Cumbrian business will assess the entries.

In total, there are 16 categories available to businesses and individuals.
