Keswick's youth hostel held a celebration to mark its reopening and the town's recovery following the 2015 floods.

The 107-bed Station Street hostel, beside the River Greta, has seen £500,000 of investment from YHA (England and Wales) since it was forced to close by flood damage.

One of the most popular YHA hostels in the Lake District, it is expected to host 21,000 overnight stays this year. It has been given a full new look inside.

It is one of the last flood-hit businesses in the town to reopen, prompting the celebration event, which was attended by people including town crier David Hall and the town's deputy mayor Susan Leighton.

Caroline White, chief executive of YHA (England and Wales), said: "This was a very special re-opening of a youth hostel following investment because it was about the town as a whole and how it had pulled together and supported each other in the face of such adversity.

"I am delighted that YHA Keswick was able to be the venue for such a special celebration."

YHA Keswick is one of 21 youth hostels run by the organisation in the Lake District.
